Mrs. Hungerford was born c. 1855 at Rosscarberry, Co. Cork, and died at her residence of St Brenda, Bandon, Co. Cork, on January 24, 1897. Her novels were very popular at their time in England, Ireland and the States. Some of her novels were translated in French in the Hachette foreign series and the Stella series. "A little Rebel" is a charming variation on the tutor / ward theme.
