Résumé
Amber O'Connell is a young Irish girl whose mother, sister of Sir Lucien Adare, married a simple miller. Mrs. O'Connell's father made a singular will, giving all the costly family jewels to her during her life with a reversion to her son, should she have one, at her death; otherwise they were to go back to Sir Lucien. The O'Connells died leaving an only daughter, Amber, who lives separately from the family. A cousin named Deane knows where the jewels are hidden, and Sir Lucien expects thus to recover the jewels if he courts Amber. Hilary Adare falls in love with Amber, and so vexes Sir Lucien opposed to an alliance with the family of his hated sister. Hilary finally finds the whole treasure, and wins his sweetheart.
