Autour de Mrs. Hungerford

Résumé
One of the most charming novels by Mrs. Hungerford. Sir Maurice Rylton, an impoverished English lord, pushed by an ambitious mother, makes an arranged marriage with a very young tomboy, Tita Bolton, of plebeian birth but very rich. When Sir Maurice confesses he does not love her but has needed her fortune to pay his debts and redeem his ancestral home, the high-spirited and willful Tita strikes him on both cheeks, and they now live as strangers. But that apparent indifference is challenged by their mutual jealousy caused by a red-haired enchantress and a dashing suitor, so that they finally discover they have loved each other all along. The story is told with a wealth of bright dialogue and witty badinage.
