Eleanor Powle is a young girl of middle condition, whose great beauty could allow her to make a brilliant marriage – as does want fiercely her ambitious mother. She is wooed by a rich lord of the neighbouring. Eleanor at times lets herself be dazzled by the opulence and the social position so attainable. But she one day hears a Methodist which convinced her that peace of the soul and real happiness are depending from other things that wealth. When she discovers that she loves him, she took the boat and joined him at the Fidji Islands where he was beginning his missionary's work.
