Résumé
After the fragmentation of the family unit for reasons independent of their previous relationship, Mike the lover of Severine left France, her mother leaving her daughter in the hands of the first comer. Severine several times disillusioned by the men with whom she tried to share her daily life, lived a difficult and austere life, subsisting only through social aid.
After fifteen years, her former lover, destroying the barriers placed between them by the mother, anxious that one day he might reveal to her who she really was, gradually resumed contact with Severine. Having amassed a considerable fortune, he offered her the possibility of escaping from her surrounding misery and returning to the life she loved so much.
