The Chinese Will

December 1959. In Berry, at the Château de la Chènevière, the Countess de la Brosse and her daughter Marie are in mourning.
Ernest Timonier, the family notary, has come to read the last will and testament of Jean Hubert de la Brosse, knight of the post and passionate defender of arts and letters, who died suddenly during his final business trip to China.
No one at the Château knows what the document will contain, but all await the unexpected guest—a certain Madame Tang Ts’iyao, whose name appears among the beneficiaries in the late Count’s will.
