Résumé
The author immersed himself in history of Lambesc under the Ancien Régime, focusing on its princes and the French Revolution. Historically a simple barony in Provence in the mid-15th century, Lambesc became a possession of the House of Lorraine. By the late 17th century, the seigneury was elevated to a foreign principality by the King of France for the House of Lorraine of Brionne, whose princes held the position of Grand Écuyer of the King of France. In Paris, on July 12, 1789, at the head of his regiment, the Royal German, and following the royal order to charge and disperse the rioters invading the Tuileries, Charles Eugène de Lorraine de Brionne (1751–1825), the last Prince of Lambesc, fled and emigrated to Austria.
